Royal Autopsy

For a thousand years, British monarchs have ruled the land, surrounded by wealth and living luxury. But many of them came to an untimely end. In a world first, this series performs ‘as real’ autopsies on the bodies of our nation’s most famous rulers. Using modern forensic analysis, pathology experts, digital autopsy and CSI techniques, all combined with eyewitness accounts written at the time, we re-examine their deaths and open modern cold case of our most celebrated monarchs, separating the gruesome facts from wild fiction, and investigating how and why they died. Through the cause of their death, we will gain new insight into their lives, revealing murder, mishap, disease and downright bad luck along the way.
